Little Green Space is an environmental community group based in the Derwent Valley, just outside Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales.

We work in partnership with schools, businesses, councils and local people to create a network of little green spaces. Our main aim is to help people to create green spaces in their local environment.

We are carrying out environmental awareness and education work within the local community. Our educational programme works with local schools to help children learn more about different habitats and species.

We also offer workshops to different groups, advising people on how to minimise their impact on the environment and encouraging them to create their own little green space.

Most villages, towns and cities have land, including gardens, school grounds, parkland and wasteland which could be doing so much more for the environment, and so for people and wildlife.

Why is this important?

Who we are

One and a half square metres of uncut grass provides enough oxygen for an adult for one year!
