Bumboo sustainable bamboo toilet paper
In the UK we use around 8.7 billion rolls of toilet paper every year, and the pulp used to make traditional toilet rolls usually come from pure virgin softwood. An estimated 7 million trees are felled every year just for toilet tissue in the UK.
Many traditional toilet rolls are also wrapped in plastic – this packaging contributes to the UK's 90 billion pieces of plastic that are thrown away annually. Although many of these plastics can be recycled, the sad truth is that they more often end up in landfill or the sea.
Bumboo loo rolls are a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative which can help save trees and reduce plastic pollution. This strong 3-ply bamboo toilet tissue is 100% plastic free, and is available in pretty, reusable paper. The paper is very soft and gentle, and free from any nasty chemicals – making it ideal for sensitive skin.
Each batch of Bumboo toilet paper is rigorously tested to ensure it contains 100% bamboo. Bamboo is a sustainable material that's naturally antibacterial. It grows rapidly, regenerates quickly after harvesting, absorbs five times more carbon than hardwood trees, and needs no irrigation or pesticides. The bamboo in all Bumboo products is sourced from sustainably managed forests, preserving biological diversity and supporting the livelihoods of local communities and workers.
The paper wraps are made from FSC certified paper and printed with plant-based inks. They are reusable, recyclable and compostable. There are lovely wrap designs available, including wildflowers and the English Delft design (pictured top and above). Or try the new limited edition Zodiac Flowers Range (pictured below), featuring zodiac-inspired floral designs by artist Liv Lee, and an annual horoscope for each zodiac sign written by astrologer Sally Kirkam.
All the designs look beautiful stacked up in the bathroom – and you can save the papers to use for crafts, scrapbooking, or wrapping gifts.
Or, if you don't need paper wraps on your loo rolls, you can choose a box of unwrapped rolls. This works out a little bit cheaper, and further reduces packaging. If you choose unwrapped rolls, you can also select an unwhitened version – eliminating the whitening process reduces environmental impact even more. The rolls are delivered in a compostable box, made with recycled cardboard and plant-based inks.
Bumboo also produces kitchen roll and boxed tissues – all made from the same soft, sustainable materials.
Bumboo is a B Corp business. This certification demonstrates a commitment to the highest social and environmental standards. For every box of loo rolls ordered, a tree is planted with Eden Reforestation Projects – helping communities devastated by deforestation to restore the forests and their livelihoods. More than 209,000 trees have been planted so far.
Bumboo also donates to Rewilding Britain with every product sold – in the case of loo rolls, it aims to support rewilding of double the area of toilet paper sold. Rewilding Britain manages the Rewilding Network, which brings together amazing organisations such as Trees for Life in the Scottish Highlands, where rewilding projects include restoring native woodland and peatlands, and the return of keystone species, such as beavers.
