Natural cosmetics
To celebrate Natural Cosmetics week – 23-29 November 2024 – we've been taking a look at some fantastic natural skincare brands.
These have all been certified by Natrue – an internationally recognised certification that takes the guesswork out of buying natural and organic products.
There are more than 6,000 beauty products that have been awarded Natrue certification. When a product displays the Natrue logo, it has met stringent standards, including sustainability and transparency.
So you can trust that by choosing these products you're buying something that is truly natural and organic, and know exactly what you're putting on your skin.
Weleda Skin Food Nourishing Day Cream
Multi-award-winning Skin Food is one of Weleda's flagship products: introduced in 1926 it has stood the test of time and is renowned amongst beauty experts and professionals for its skin-nourishing qualities. Skin Food is now available in a day cream – a light-textured cream which hydrates, protects and restores. It has a cooling effect on application so is ideal for soothing dry, irritated skin – and with extracts of organic calendula and chamomile, it smells lovely.
Dr Bronner's All-one Pure-Castile Bar Soap
These generously sized soap bars are certified Fair Trade, and made with organic oils. The bars are available in nine different scents, including citrus, lavender and an unscented version. We tried the cherry blossom scent, which is delicate and subtly floral. It produces a rich, foamy lather that's kind to skin – and can also be used to wash hair, so is great for travel. Dr Bronner's was founded in 1948, and is now a certified B Corp company producing socially and environmentally responsible products.
Ben & Anna Deodorant Cream
This cream deodorant comes in an innovative container that's made of potato starch, paper and natural fibres – and is fully compostable. The deodorant is silky-smooth to apply, leaves no residue, and is effective for 48 hours. It comes in two fragrances: Love Me is lightly floral and Green Balance is formulated for sensitive skins. Contains no aluminium salt and is vegan. A great plastic-free, natural alternative to stick deodorants.
aeos Realive Serum
A luxurious award-winning serum that smells wonderful and instantly brightens the complexion. It's made with natural ingredients, such as rose geranium oil, witch hazel and rose extracts, along with crystal essences including opal, amethyst and emerald. Realive Serum encourages smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, plumping the skin and producing a visible improvement to skin appearance and texture. It's a super-concentrated serum and you only need a tiny amount – so a 30ml bottle should last for ages. Aeos prioritises sustainability: its environmentally conscious practices range from tree planting and reducing packaging to using off-grid solar power.
Lavera Basis Sensitiv Lip Balm
Enriched with organic jojoba and almond oils, this intensely moisturising, vegan lip balm soothes dry lips. Specially formulated for sensitive skin, it has a pleasant vanilla scent and provides long-lasting relief. All packaging is recyclable, and is made from 100% recycled materials.
Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream
Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream cleanses and gently exfoliates, regulating and balancing skin and revitalising your complexion. Suitable for all skin types, it can be used twice daily to leave skin smooth and polished. Made with natural ingredients, including calendula, chamomile, St. John's wort, and sweet almond meal. Dr Hauschka is an environmentally responsible company, with 100% CO2-neutral operations at its head office, and all unavoidable CO2 emissions offset through atmosfair. More than 90% of the plant-based raw materials used in Dr Hauschka products are organically cultivated – and packaging is recyclable and made from recycled materials.
